A new book titled “The Girls of Today” is being hailed as a landmark achievement in the field of female writers, with the author saying it is a “powerful statement” about girls and their lives.
“This book is a powerful statement about how girls are today, in their own way, and it speaks to the very essence of the modern girl,” said Sarah Hines, author of “The Girl With the Curious Eye”.
“The book is about girls who are living the lives we’re living today.
It’s about girls of colour, girls from poor backgrounds, girls who have been affected by the war and the global pandemic.
Its about girls from the poorest communities in the world, and how they are taking their own lives to the world.”
Hines said her aim in writing “The Ladies of Today”, was to show the women of the era, as they were, as people who lived in the most challenging circumstances, and who had been affected directly by the wars that were fought in their name.
“The Ladies in Their Own Time”, which is currently available for pre-order on Amazon, is a collection of essays that reflect on the lives of women who lived during and after World War II.
The book, which is available in paperback and digital editions, is also the first of its kind to be written by a woman.
Hines, a former writer and journalist who now works in advertising and communications, said she felt a responsibility to write the book for the readers, “not just the people who have seen or read it in the past”.
“I think it’s important to remember that women were still writing in their day,” Hines said.
In the book, Hines also addresses the gender inequality in writing.
“There’s a long history of women writers who wrote about gender inequality, but the book is not a feminist book, it’s not about feminism,” Hine said.
“Its not about women being bad, its not about the ways that we treat women.
Its about the way we treat girls and girls in particular, and that we are a family.”
It’s a very real experience that we have to live with every day, and its not something that can be taken lightly.
“And its not a book for everyone, but for me, as a feminist writer, it was a huge responsibility.”
Himes said she chose to focus on the issues faced by women during World War Two because she wanted to help her younger daughter, who was two at the time, understand the impact of the war.
“I had a lot of support from my parents and I did ask my mother for advice,” Hins said.
“She told me to think about all the different ways I had been made to feel invisible during this time.”
She said that her experience was different to me, that it was much worse than the ones I had lived through, because she was in a military hospital, and she felt like she had to keep her distance and not talk to anybody.
“For me, it felt really important to be able to help my daughter understand that there are so many different ways that people make assumptions about her, and they don’t even realise that they are making assumptions.”
Hymes said she had also been approached by a number of women about writing about gender equality, including women from the same backgrounds as her.
“Women are just as capable of writing about anything,” Hymes said.
“I think that we need to think more about the women who are writing about these issues today.”
If there are women out there writing about the issues that we face, then we need more women who write about these topics today.”
Hymes and her husband, Ben, have published books before, including “The Princess Bride” and “The Book of Mormon”.
Hines has been a contributor to The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, The New York Times and The Huffington Post.
