With the launch of Service Writer Salary Calculator and the advent of new services such as Writers Block, writers are finding themselves at a crossroads.
The new calculator, which allows writers to enter their salary and work experience, is a good idea in theory.
The idea is that if you don’t know how much you’ll be earning, you can create a spreadsheet to work out how much to pay your writer.
But the problem is that this new tool will be useful for those who already have an idea of how much they’ll be making, rather than a simple guide to a specific salary.
This means that the calculator will have to do two things: find out your exact salary, and calculate how much your writer should make.
The first part is fairly straightforward.
Write down your name, your job title and the most recent date that you started writing.
The other part is slightly more tricky, because it includes your position and the type of writing you do.
The most important piece of this section is the position.
Write out the title of your position, the type and the salary that your position requires.
The second piece of information is your job experience.
You need to choose what type of experience you have, if any, and whether you work in a “writer’s shop” or in “pro-editorial” roles.
The result is a spreadsheet that tells you the salary you need to earn to cover the position, what kind of writing your job requires, how much time you spend writing, and any extras you can add.
For example, the average writer’s job is to write 1,400 words per day, so this spreadsheet has your position title and type, the amount of writing time you expect to spend per day and the number of days per year that you spend in that job.
If you are a professional writer, you would need to give your salary as a range, so your range would be between $15,000 and $60,000.
But if you are not an aspiring writer, the spreadsheet will give you a salary range of $5,000 to $20,000 for a similar role.
What if you aren’t sure?
Try entering your name and the job title into the calculator.
If it tells you that your salary should be between 2 and 10 times your experience, you’re good to go.
If the spreadsheet tells you your salary is between 5 and 10,000, you need more work.
To get a better idea of your actual salary, you should look at how much money you should be making on average each year, rather how much extra you can earn.
For the most part, the more hours you work, the less you should expect to earn.
You should expect a median of $15.00 per hour.
For the most writers, the median for a job is $20.00 an hour.
For most writers a lot of their income is in “writing” hours.
If your job demands that you write a lot, you may need to take more time than most writers who are less experienced to get the job done.
If, for example, you are writing 500 pages a day, you might be able to earn $20 per hour, but you might need to write 500 pages of prose each day to make $50,000 per year.
You can work out a range of your annual earnings on this calculator, but there is little point doing so.
If you are just starting out, you will probably be able work out your own salary using this formula.
But even for those writers who already know how they will make their money, it is important to check with your editor to make sure they have the budget in place for your project.
The next part of the calculator is important for writers.
You must include any extras, such as travel, paid holiday and vacation.
If your job involves travel, you’ll want to include the time spent traveling as well.
The average travel time per day is 10 minutes.
This is the equivalent of $2 per hour in total.
If this amount of travel is not included in your calculation, the calculator would only give you an estimate of how long it would take you to travel, not the actual time spent.
If, for whatever reason, you do not include any extra time, it’s okay to include travel expenses as part of your calculation.
For example, if you spend an hour a day on a road trip and then decide to write 200 pages per day in the afternoon, you could make $30,000 in a year.
This calculator doesn’t give you all the information you need.
It only shows you the average earnings for writers with the job you want, including the time you have spent working, what the job requires and any extra extras you might have.
But it is a useful tool for those of us who are already working in the industry.
